Grow Food System Leaders at the PEAS Farm

The PEAS Farm is home to the University of Montana’s Program in Ecological Agriculture and Society where students gain practical experience in sustainable agriculture and food systems. Each year, 60 students from across campus participate in on-farm courses embedded in the land – in the soil, plants and climate that make up our food and agricultural systems. These courses prepare students to become farmers, advocates and organizers working to build a more sustainable, equitable and just food system.

The PEAS Farm is run by a local nonprofit, Garden City Harvest, in partnership with UM’s Environmental Studies Program. Students at the PEAS Farm grow 15,000 pounds of produce annually for the Missoula Food Bank, UM Food Pantry, a Community Supported Agriculture Program, the Five Valleys Seed Library and a mobile market for low-income seniors.

You are key to so much of what we do at the PEAS Farm. You help us:

  • Procure the most current and up-to-date tools and equipment for on-farm instruction, enhancing student horticultural skill development.
  • Expand student access to farm courses through undergraduate and graduate student scholarships.
  • Bring in guest speakers, fund student-led projects and research, and support public events in the Four Sisters Garden.
  • And so much more!

Join us to support on-farm experiential learning and increase access to PEAS Farm courses as we train the next generation of food system leaders!
