Support Switchback Records

Switchback Records is the University of Montana's student-run record label. Working under the direction of the Entertainment Management (UMEM) program, Switchback Records is a student group housed in the College of Business. Over the past two years, Switchback has only ever had a maximum of three consistent members; this year, however, our last member standing brought the label back by recruiting over 20 new members! 

We have not been this active in a very long time, and with our new team and new leadership, our mission is plain and simple: Supply local artists with opportunities to perform, record, and produce their music by setting up concerts and events, providing free production sessions, and paying artists a living wage for their work. 

We have hosted five free concerts already this year, with six more on the way. We have created two separate bands that practice every week made up entirely of Switchback members who want to get involved with music, but haven't had the opportunity just yet. We intend to host an end-of-the-year festival for all students at the University and the general public to celebrate a year well spent, and we will hopefully be able to produce vinyls and CD's for some of our amazing local artists.

Our student group not only teaches real life skills of hosting events, but it is open to any major just like the UMEM certificate. This group has changed the lives of students in many ways, and provides endless opportunity to learn about music production, live shows, marketing, budgeting, and any other aspect of the entertainment industry. With your assistance, we will be able to pay artists for bigger shows, buy and sell merchandise efficiently, and book larger venues like the Dennison Theatre to host our events. 

Our students are eager to continue on with Switchback Records, and any funding provided would allow them to continue their goals and see them through. We have a great group of 22 students who are primarily freshmen, sophomores, and juniors, and we can't wait to see where they take Switchback over the next few years! Thank you!
