Make a Big Difference for UM’s Littlest Students

ASUM Child Care, Preschool, and Family Resources has provided the best possible childcare for UM students, faculty and staff for 54 years. We provide services to children from infancy up to 7 years old. Programs include five child care and preschool centers (newborn-6 years), and school age summer programs (kindergarten-7 years). We serve more than 70 children every single day and are asking you to help us make improvements to our programs and facilities.  

You help ASUM Child Care, Preschool and Family Resources enhance the learning environment for children in our care. Read on for a few ways we may put your contributions to use. 

• There is an immediate need for restoration of a grassy area for the children to play. During the pandemic, our facility was left without a grounds caretaker, and we lost our lush, green lawn. Replacing what is now a packed-dirt area with fresh sod is a top priority for us. This initiative will not only improve the overall aesthetics of the playground but also enhance safety for the children.  

• Learning through play is a vital part of what we provide. We are always on the lookout for the best, developmentally appropriate books, games, toys, art and music supplies. We strive to provide children in our care with both the beloved classics and the most up-to-date materials for their ongoing enrichment. 

• Field trips are another activity we offer, which allow children's curious minds to explore the world around us. Locations we have taken the children span across the UM campus, but also include excursions such as Butterfly House and Insectarium, Albertsons, Culligan Water and the Missoula Public Library.
