Help UM students in the "Learning By Giving" class raise funds so they can donate $10,000 in grants to Missoula nonprofit organizations.
This experiential philanthropy project provides an opportunity for incoming freshmen in the Franke Global Leadership Initiative program to connect deeply with the Missoula community during their first semester on campus. Over the course of the semester, students donate several grants of least $2,000 to help local nonprofits further their missions.
This project is a unique and impactful opportunity for GLI freshmen to connect with the local community and the many nonprofit organizations that help to make Missoula a special place to live. Students from past classes have said the course was their most memorable during their time at UM, and many students have developed long-term volunteer relationships with the organizations they engaged during their first semester.
